Competitive Open Access is evaluated and prioritized based on criteria of scientific and technical excellence and is regulated by an Access Protocol applied by an Access Committee external to the ICTS, with the support of experts from the institution itself. To submit a request under this type of access, a Competitive Open Access Call must be available. The service fees for Competitive Access will be lower than those applied for Access On Demand.
Access On Demand allows for the submission of applications at any time, with their technical feasibility being assessed by an Internal Panel. The document "Pricing of the Ordinary Services of SOCIB (in Spanish)" provides information on the costs associated with using this infrastructure under this access mode.
Among the objectives of the ICTS SOCIB is to promote the use of its Glider Fleet by public research groups and the private sector, belonging to national or international communities. A percentage of the capacity of its essential services is offered under a Competitive Open Access scheme, for use by the scientific community, which will be able to count on the support of the ICTS's own scientific and technical staff.
